Summary
On October 29th, 1929 the American Stock Market crashed, which also became to be known as "Black Tuesday." In one afternoon the value of many stocks dropped drastically. Those that had bought shares with borrowed money had no way to pay their debts back. As a result, banks closed and businesses went bankrupt. From everywhere the sound of people committing suicide of tall buildings could be heard.
